Nikola Jokic wins Most Valuable Player title

It turns out that even in sports you have to fight for different titles and titles. The three basketball players competing for the MVP of 2022 were Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia Sixers and Yannis Adetokunbo of the Milwaukee Bucks. It must be said that Philadelphia and Milwaukee managed to finish 3rd and 4th in the East with an interesting 51-31 balance of losses and wins. The same cannot be said for Denver, which finished sixth in the West with a 48-34 record. To make matters worse, it managed to drop out of the competition in the first round of the relegation game.  Embiid was the top scorer this season, while Frick could have won the title – best defender – based on the results. Let’s look at why the MVP title went to Jokic. Let’s start with the most important thing – personal statistics.

Personal stats

First, let’s look at the stats that unanimously tip the scales in the Denver Nuggets player’s favor. Nikola is 27 years old, the team’s leading scorer, and his 2022 season in the NBA has been the best of his career. The statistics show that his performance was much better than the -2020/21 championship. He was then named Most Valuable Player with career highs in points (27.1 per game), rebounds (13.8), blocked shots (0.9), steals (1.5) and field goal percentage (58.3).

Nikola Jokic wins another title

Comparing him to the other contenders for this title, we can say that Jokic is the leader on 30 statistical indicators.

Jannis and Embiid have the same number of statistical indicators.  It’s also worth noting that the Serbian striker has made several noteworthy achievements. 32.8 is one of the highest odds in history. His Milwaukee Bucks rival in the 2019/20 season posted a 31.9. Jokic has over 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season, making him the first player in the NBA. And he’s the 6th player in league history to lead his team in all scoring. He is a versatile and one-of-a-kind basketball player.

What is his role in the team

There’s not much to say about the importance of this player because Denver is Jokic. Nikola is credited with getting the entire team to the playoffs. Injured players have been missing from the second and third positions this season: Murray and Porter.

Embiid’s team won only 3 more times than Denver in regular stats. Nicola’s teammates were Denver’s 2nd best scorers with 15 points per game – Gordon, Barton and Morris.

“The Nuggets are a one-player team that can do the impossible and try to beat the best basketball club in the NBA, Golden State. But Jokic has earned the title he deserves.
